Starting with a new dentist is a big deal, especially if it's been a while. At Talbert Family Dentistry, we're currently accepting new patients, we've built your first appointment to be everything a first dental visit should be: thorough, comfortable, and just plain welcoming from the second you walk through our door.
We know it's a lot of information, so here's exactly what to expect, from your two-hour exam to how we handle nerves.

The Full Two-Hour Experience
A lot of dental offices rush you through a quick first appointment. We do things differently. Your first visit with us typically runs about two hours, and that's on purpose.
It gives Dr. Grant Talbert and our team plenty of time for a genuinely comprehensive evaluation and a real conversation about your smile goals. No rushing, no judgment, just thoughtful, personalized care.
Here's What Happens, Step by Step
- A Fresh Clean and Gum Health Check: We start with a professional cleaning to clear away plaque and tartar, plus periodontal charting so we can catch any early signs of gum disease before they become bigger problems.
- Studio-Quality Photos: We photograph your smile to give you and Dr. Talbert a clear picture of your oral health. Curious about cosmetic work? We can use these same photos to build your complimentary Trial Smile, a risk-free sneak peek at what's possible.
- 3D Scans, Zero Guesswork: Our digital scans give us a precise look at your tooth structure and bite alignment, no messy impressions required.
- A Life-Saving Screening: We finish with an oral cancer screening, checking for any unusual tissue changes that deserve a closer look.
Haven't Been to The Dentist in a While? We Get It
Life happens, and it's more common than you'd think to go a few years between visits. If that's you, you're in good company, and you won't be judged here.
Your visit starts with a relaxed conversation about your dental history, followed by a thorough evaluation. We're not interested in dwelling on the past; we're here to help you move forward with a plan that works for your life.
Feeling Nervous? We've Got Options
Dental anxiety is real, and we offer sedation options built to help you through it:
- Nitrous oxide (laughing gas): takes the edge off quickly and wears off just as fast
- Oral sedation: a deeper level of relaxation for stronger anxiety, taken before your visit
We'll talk through your options together, no pressure either way.
Making It Affordable
Great dental care shouldn't come with sticker shock.
We work with a wide range of insurance plans, including Aetna, Ameritas, BCBS, GEHA, Guardian, Humana, MetLife, Principal, United Concordia, and United Healthcare (This is a partial list. Call us if you don't see yours).
No insurance? No problem. We offer two in-house membership plans:
- Standard Plan: $500 for your first year ($400/year to renew, $400 per additional family member); includes two cleanings with x-rays and exams, two fluoride treatments, two emergency exams, an oral cancer screening, an intraoral camera exam, a free Invisalign consultation, and 15% off most treatments.
- Periodontal Plan: $700 for your first year ($600/year to renew); includes four periodontal maintenance cleanings with x-rays and exams, plus all the same extras above.
We also accept cash, checks, and all major credit/debit cards, and offer flexible financing through CareCredit and Cherry.
A Note for Families
We love that families trust us, and we want to be upfront: our office is built around adult care, so we're not quite set up to give your kiddo the experience they'd get at a dedicated pediatric practice.
Children under 13 need to have a parent established as a patient with us first, and from there, we're happy to welcome them for routine hygiene visits. Got questions? Just give us a call.
Fits Your Schedule, Not The Other Way Around
We open early (7 AM Monday–Thursday) so you can knock out your appointment before your day even starts, and you can book online 24/7 without ever picking up the phone. Dealing with a dental emergency? We prioritize same-day appointments.
We Can't Wait to Meet You
